It’s always pleasant to take candid shots of everything. I really don’t like it when the subject that I am taking picture of poses and projects so hard that they come out not being their real selves. Women would pucker their lips together and men would show muscles that aren’t really there – nothing is natural. Maybe that is also the reason why I like taking pictures of children. I’ve always been enthralled with how they would be so candid and not be ashamed despite their dirt and all and having no front teeth. So when I was asked to take pictures of a wedding, I was a little hesitant thinking this is one of the moments that I would dread since everyone would want to look perfect in front of the camera.
We were fetched and taken to the Guthrie Castle riding a grand Bentley and arriving at the wedding venue, I was struck with the beauty of the place. The pavilion where both the wedding and the reception were held was so grand that all I could hear were the "oohs" and "aahs" of the guests and the clicking of their cameras. During the wedding, I forgot that I was dreading of taking monotonous picture. The place was so grand that everything looked perfect. The couple at the wedding was not the usual couple who were so stiff in their wedding. They seemed to enjoy every minute, thinking that it’s the best day of their life and the look that they were exchanging with each other was the look that you only see when two people are truly in love. I’m not the romantic type of guy but seeing them laughing at each other, making silly faces gave me the vigor and the yearning to capture every moment. There were people who were laughing and there were those who were crying. Every moment was perfect and worth capturing. They also had games after the reception and we were given the chance to tour the place. The love in the air and the grandness greatly overwhelmed me and the atmosphere was so light that people didn’t mind my taking their pictures and didn’t even bother posing their best. The bride and the groom were game enough with the picture taking and there was never a dull moment. I would always want to witness ceremonies like this and capture the moments as they are.
